Commissioning of the Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Lecture Theater

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, a significant event took place at the City Campus of Greenfield University, Kaduna. The occasion was the commissioning of the Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed Lecture Theater, a momentous event that drew dignitaries from across the country. Among them was the Chancellor of Greenfield University, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

In his address, the Emir, who also serves as the Chairman of the Kaduna State Council of Traditional Rulers, likened Greenfield University to a “mini Nigeria.” He observed that the institution is a melting pot of diverse cultures and religions, with students hailing from all corners of the country. He expressed his pride in being part of the university and extended an invitation to all Nigerians to partake in the wealth of knowledge and experience the university offers.

The Emir further expressed his delight that the lecture theater was being named after Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, whom he described as one of Nigeria’s finest. He prayed for the continued growth of the university, hoping it would become one of the best in the country.

Echoing the Emir’s sentiments, the Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Greenfield University, Engineer Simon Ifediora Nwakacha, affirmed that the university indeed mirrors Nigeria’s diversity. He pointed out that the university’s leadership and student body represent various regions of the country, further emphasizing its inclusivity.

In his welcome address, Chief Nwakacha highlighted that Greenfield University is a hub where innovators and visionaries gather to be inspired, challenged, and empowered to make a positive impact on the world. He expressed his gratitude to the university’s management for their commitment to fostering an environment that promotes academic excellence and innovation.

Chief Nwakacha also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Chancellor, the Emir of Zazzau, whose guidance and dedication have been instrumental in the university’s development and success. He commended the collective vision, passion, and dedication of all present in creating a space that will shape the minds and future of generations to come.

The Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed Lecture Theater, he said, is a testament to what can be achieved when we come together with a shared purpose and a commitment to building a brighter future. He paid tribute to the late Malam Yahaya Hamza, an educationist par excellence, whose passion for education, dedication to excellence, and visionary leadership laid the foundation upon which they stand today.

In her acceptance speech, Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, represented by her sister, Commissioner, Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, Hajiya Safiya Umar Balarabe, expressed her deep appreciation to the university for the honor of naming the theater after her. She pledged her continued support to the university and wished it success in its future endeavors.
